Small, Kind Deeds

betasignedSomeone did something very small and very kind for me the other day. I spent the afternoon creating this image that I hope he will appreciate. It’s nothing, just a token of my appreciation.

He’s a fan of Lao Tzu (and so am I!) and he loves fish. He’s got two fish tanks on his desk at work.

I wish I could say I took the picture of the fish, alas it’s a purchased image from Dreamstime. I will be going to the aquarium soon and hope to get some amazing pictures.

What he did for me was just take a little time to do something that made my life easier. He just noticed something I said in a meeting and knew that I’d never get around to building a report for myself that would be useful, despite the fact that he’d emailed the whole team the exact details of how to do it.

You know how it is when you’re at work.

You’re busy and it’s something that would be very helpful to you, but it’s kind of complex and it’s just a bit more time intensive than you can ever find the time to do. (Especially when you’re a super techno-dork like me!)

Anyways, he set up the report for me. No one told him to do it. He’s not getting any brownie points from anybody. He just did something that he thinks is pretty easy but did it because he knew I just couldn’t get around to doing it for myself.

He did it because he’s just nice. Faith in humanity is once again restored!

Sometimes the tiniest gesture can makes the biggest impact.
