Burlesque

Burlesque

Burlesque is a more gentrified, retro and playful approach to contemporary exotic dance. It’s absolutely related to old school exotic dance or “stripping”, but it goes further.

A quickie difference between burlesque and stripping is in the audience. Stripping is traditional titillation for a male audience. Nothing wrong with that. There’s plenty of skill and pleasure in that, but burlesque is more.

There’s more back story or characterization, more wit and humor, and more of an effort to communicate an idea or be able to make some kind of commentary; about life, society, social or sexual roles, etc.

Anyways, here we’ll explore all aspects of burlesque. We can talk costuming and props elements such as chairs, fans and boas to create dances that are fun and flirty.
