Lilith’s Favorites- Tribal Fusion Belly Dance Pants

Belly dance pants range from sheer harem pants to heavier cotton, flare legged styles.  While there are lots of different fabrics to choose from, I’m focusing here on my favorite flare legged style pants that work well for practice, for yoga, for just lounging around and, when they have a matching top or are embellished are great for performances too.

I’ve searched high and low for the best shape and fit and I know I’ve worn a bunch of different flare-legged tribal style belly dance pants.

These are just my all time favorites.

Melodia Designs

Melos are kind of the gold standard in the world of tribal fusion belly dance. The only thing I don’t love about them is the interior elastic waistband and that they have to be altered to fit us shorty girls.

They are otherwise superb. Their fit and styling are really nice. They are comfortable, flattering on everybody and super durable; quality made.

There’s lots of knockoffs on E-bay, but seriously, most knockoffs are crap. These pants really do look that good on everyone. There’s a reason people are rabid devotees.

Firefly Style

Firefly by Nera Brent is another of my favorites. I have a couple pairs of the Fly pant that started it all. It’s a great design that fit perfectly with no alteration needed and I much prefer the waistband and fit on my body to the Melos.

I don’t think they are quite as durable as the Melos, though, the weight of the fabric is just a little lighter but considering how much use I’ve gotten out of them, they are a great value.

I will buy more and/or replace my exact pairs when I’ve worn them ragged! (and I’m working on that!)

Click here for the Firefly Style website. I’ve never seen them on Ebay.

Muse of The Harlequin

I love, love, love the Muse’s style in her flare-legged pants. Her fabrics are also more showy and appropriate for performance. Melos and Firefly are more often in a nice cotton and while I find that cotton is way more comfortable to dance in than synthetics or flashier fabrics, I like other fabrics for performance ‘flash’.

I always prefer lounging and practicing in durable cotton, but a gorgeous fabric that is glitzy and beautiful makes me feel all sparkly and beautiful for show! Muse has some gorgeous fabrics.

The other thing I absolutely love about Muse is the tailoring of the waistband. Like the firefly Style, it’s a folded fabric waistband that I like better than the elastic in the Melos.

More than that, the shape is genus and I don’t know why I don’t see anybody else designing their waistbands like this.

See how it forms a flattering V-shape in the front torso? God that makes for such a flattering look on any figure. Curvy girls especially will appreciate how much it helps elongate the torso.

I suggested once on her Facebook page that I’d like to see matching V-shaped over skirts. I still haven’t seen those but that would just be the end-all-be-all for me!

Muse of the Harlequin is only on Ebay- click here to see more.

PS I don’t actually own the pants from that top picture. They were probably one of a kind and already sold. I just thought that looked like the kind of pants I’d buy!
