Cheap Thrills & Crafty Girls – More Bling

What glamorous gal doesn’t love finding a killer deal on cool jewelry and stuff? But those regular cheap accessory stores in the mall don’t really have anything for most of us alternative, Gothic or tribal dancer types.

I’ve had great luck over the years with Cost Plus Imports though. I just found this fabulous necklace on the clearance rack, (and plenty of other nice goodies). Originally priced at $26.99, this mass made silver colored necklace from Turkey was a real steal at $4.98.

Even at the regular price it’s way more affordable compared to the ‘real’ stuff. Antique silver from Turkey or India can easily run into the multiple hundreds of dollars!

A couple years ago I bought a couple strings of these interesting looking beads, also from the clearance rack, and I just took them apart to make what I think is a more interesting looking necklace.

These sort of tribal looking medallions I just bought for a couple bucks at Michael’s (the craft store), but I’m still trying to figure out what to do with them. I was going to use them for earrings but they’re a little too heavy.

Maybe I should sew them on a top or incorporate them on a hip belt or something?

Another awesome idea I got from my best girlie, Erin. She totally had this ‘Industrial Glam’ vibe that inspired me. She layers different lengths of stainless steel chain around her neck, (yeah…tank chain, the stuff you get from the hardware store!)

She swaps out little dangling bits of this and that, pieces of broken jewelery and hangs little medallions around her neck on the stuff.  I bought some for myself and have worn them as belly chains. How cool is that?

Cold weather coming – any crafty girls got ideas to share?
